Ladder School
A School for the Exceptional Child Jacob's Ladder - a school for the exceptional child - is a non-profit organization established to provide the ultimate educational experience for the developmentally delayed or brain injured child. A special emphasis has been placed on creating a safe, loving, positive environment - providing individualized attention for each child. Within this optimal environment the child is given the experience of the latest, most innovative therapy and technology available. The core of the program consists of the following:
The staff at Jacob's Ladder adamantly believes that every child deserves the chance to excel - and that as the child's parents and community it is our responsibility to seek out and provide the environment, tools, and technology that allows a child with special needs to thrive and discover a richness in life that would otherwise go unfounded. Jacob's Ladder serves children preschool through 6th grade; 7th through 12th graders will be evaluated on an individual basis for setting appropriateness. The school operates on a 9 month schedule, following the same holiday and summer schedule as the local school system. A large portion of operation cost is funded through private donations. School tuition is based on a sliding scale so that our services are available to all children in all economic brackets. Full scholarships are available. It is possible that following 1 school year at Jacob's Ladder, your child will have made such gains that he/she may return to public school (if you choose). Our staff will assist you with this decision to determine what is best for your child's growth and development. Are we right for your child? A positive response to any of the following questions means a closer look at Jacob's Ladder could be the most important decision you could make in your child's life. 1 - Has your child exhibited a problem with attention, hyperactivity or chronic behavior problem which has interfered with his/her ability to excel in school? 2 - Has your child been diagnosed with ADD or ADHD? 3 - Does your child have ongoing difficulties in reading or learning to read? (Reading function is the best overall indicator of the ability to receive input and process information with positive results.) 4 - Did your child experience developmental delays as an infant or toddler? 5 - Has your child received a head injury or brain injury at birth - low oxygen saturation as an infant or was delivered 6 weeks or more, prematurely? 6 - Is your child excessively clumsy, awkward; falls or trips a lot or appears uncoordinated to the degree that it affects their experience at school or in social situations? 7 - Has your child been labeled Learning Disabled? Our promise is that children with these special circumstances will receive the highest quality education and the newest and most successful interventions - all provided with unconditional loving care that you would desire for your child on a daily basis. A. Martin Wuttke is the founder/director of Southern Institute of Applied Psychophysiology, Inc. Mr. Wuttke's work with EEG Neurofeedback as an intervention for addiction, head injury rehabilitation, and Attention Deficit Disorder has been widely recognized. He is considered to be among the pioneers in this field, having treated over 1,500 patients at Woodridge Psychiatric Hospital between 1987 and 1995. He is a clinician, consultant and teacher in the field of EEG Neurofeedback. Through his knowledge of neurophysiology and the relentless pursuit of behavioral methods to enhance and restore brain function, Mr. Wuttke has developed a program that produces astounding results in the most severe patients. The Journey To Jacob's Ladder: A wide body of knowledge in the field of Learning Disabilities, ADHD, and sensory integration deficits was acquired during the years following the birth of Amy and Martin's son, Jacob. After a high-risk pregnancy, it became evident that Jacob would need additional help to excel. Since Jacob's birth, the Wuttke's lives have been devoted to researching and compiling evidence to support the therapies and technology that are the foundation of Jacob's Ladder. After all the research and searching we are left to conclude and observe that what we offer at Jacob's Ladder is the key to future success, confidence, and a life rich beyond our imagination; not only for Jacob, but for your child as well. |
